    I should have been more clear, bbqspitrotisseries is not where I bought the Smartfire and got bad service. I bought it directly from Smartfire and tried to get technical help from them and they have ghosted me. My deepest apologies to bbqspitrotisserries!

    I’m curious, why didn’t you put the big logs in before lighting the fire? They didn’t block anything or effect any airflow in anyway. So waiting til after you started the fire was just making it more difficult for yourself. If you just didn’t everything beforehand it would be quicker and less chance of burning yourself.

      Hi there, the logs are larger and denser which requires more heat to start burning. It will be much more efficient to light up the kindling first to establish good airflow and reach a high temperature to ignite the larger logs. Cheers!

      @@BbqspitrotisseriesAu The logs are infact denser, good job! But that doesn’t answer my question and ignores what I stated above. How are the logs effecting the airflow? There were only two of them and they weren’t even touch the kindling. Your the only person I’ve seen take the extra steps. And definitely the only person I’ve seen who needed to use hot gloves.

    Those v shaped grills suck and I will tell you why. First they are so wide that they block the heat. The is more blocked space than open space. Just look at it. That means longer cooking time and more fuel you need. Secondly they leave super wide and odd looking grill marks. Thirdly in order for the grease to run off the grill is set at an angle to drain better. There is usually one inch difference from the front to the rear. So now you have a cool spot which you dont need. That again increases cooking time. This is classic overthinking. You want small rods with plenty of space between them. OK?

    The only thing i was wondering around step 6 turning the smoker from high to shut down cycle then turn back to smoke what’s the time duration between. This question would be relevant where i switch the dial. Love My Traeger good video.

    Excellent video. Thank you. Just purchased this spit to upgrade my old one. First cook was a treat. Quick question. How many kilos of meat is that in your demo. Cooling Gyros this weekend for 20 peeps. Ordered 7kg mix lamb and beef and wondering is that should be enough. Thanks in advance

    If you bought a traeger grill return it before using. there is no warranty unless you are willing to repair it yourself. made in china withe cheap parts and labor. you have been warned.

    After watching I’m still unsure how to use a Cyprus grill, can I use coals or wood, can we cook meat that isn’t marinated. Are flames ok or does it need to be coals only? Really not much education or advice only sales pitch, why use the different rubs you did use could I use the Greek rub on the lamb? Pretty bad video.

Using our Gyros Rub on lamb can be a delightful alternative to the traditional approach. Please note that the Cyprus model is specifically designed for use with charcoal only. Using wood fire could generate excessive heat and potentially damage the spit. We initially cooked the meat on the spit until it reached 120°F, followed by a resting period of 10-15 minutes. Subsequently, we finished cooking on the grill until it reached 130°F (medium-rare).     I attended the demonstration and came home and tried to replicated the cook. I gave the pork belly 24 hours in fridge and placed it on spit on Sunday. It took about 1 hour to reach 80- 85 degree internally. It looked fantastic….but it was tough!!! Far from the juicy version I tried at the demo….any thoughts as to why (it was nice and moist but very tough which made it rather unpleasant). Will try again but need some suggestions to improve cook

      Hey John, Try pushing the cook longer so it probes like butter. You can push the internal temp up to 95c and you’ll get all that beautiful glutinous salty pork!

      @@BbqspitrotisseriesAu Ive just purchased your deluxe Cyprus spit (and last year I purchased the full size stainless spit with Hood). I did a porchetta last weekend and the pork was very tender but the crackling could have been better. Your pork belly video has provided me with some very helpful tips.

    The handles don't seem flush with the grill. Is this normal. All three are same shape. Top handle tho sits odd. Like the top isn't curved enough.
